Hooray Flowers!

Beth and I made more flowers today!  Different ones this time.   She and I had Saturday off due to the threat of terrible weather.  It was just very windy.  yay for no crazy storms here!

Wine box shelves

 So a few years ago I was at Costco with my mom and I spotted these wooden wine boxes.  I thought they were pretty cool looking so I grabbed one and we used it to pack up our purchase.
Since then I've been collecting them and using them as temporary shelves and storage boxes in my various dorms and apartments.  Robert suggested permanent shelves and this is what we ended up with.  I hear we have Daniel to thank for the inspiration.

Sailboat

I'm very excited about this one.  This was my Valentines day gift to Robert.  Made out of Magazines and like the bowls but cooler.

Cork Board!

Robert got tired of me carrying around a lot of wine corks and not doing anything with them.  While he was in Delaware with me this past fall, he put together a cork board.  So all those wine corks have finally made it to where they belong.

That paper at the top is his very confusing looking schedule.   

Tiny rope mat

I can't seem to get a good picture of this.  The camera will focus in front of it or behind it.  Not on it.  Anyways, It took me a while but I made it!

Record Bowls

I must admit that I did not come up with this idea, but I'm very glad I found it.  It turns out that if you put an old vinyl record into the oven on very low heat for a few minutes, it becomes super floppy.  (the instructable I read very aptly said "it will feel like a fruit roll-up")  After it comes out of the oven, it smells bad and you can put it in a mixing bowl or drape it over something.  I did both of those and got essentially the same result.  The pretty cool feature of this project is that when you don't like how the bowls turn out, you can just put it back in the oven and its back to fruit roll-up.

They are now home to my Pea plants and some of my lettuce plants, I hope.  The lettuce is looking pretty sad since I've transplanted it from it's dixie cup birth place.  Anyways, you can find these bowls for 30 bucks on Etsy or you can find an antique store with a pile of free records out front and make your own.

Hanging shelves

I'm just going to keep going with this while Robert sleeps.

While we were living in Newark De during my junior year, Robert had a lot of spare time and we needed shelves.  I also managed to get him hooked on www.instructables.com.  With some combination of that he made some pretty sweet shelves.  They remained looking like pine until last summer when I had a lot of spare time.  So I stained them.

I think they turned out pretty well.  We have decided that we will probably need to get a new vine for the shelves every time the shelves are moved.
